Norfolk has a vibrant art scene with a wide range of arts and cultural venues from Blickling Estate and Cromer Pier to Wells Maltings and Sheringham Little Theatre. Norwich is quite an arty hub with the fantastic Norwich Festival happening every year, subject to pandemic’s! In Norwich you can find the Norwich Castle Museum and the stunning Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts, a major national centre for the study and presentation of art.

History & Heritage

Norfolk is steeped in history going back millions of years with important archaeological sites dotted along the coast. Much evidence of Norfolk’s rich heritage can be seen at a number of Norfolk museums including Norwich Castle Museum or in the case of Sea Henge, artifacts are on display at the Lynn Museum in King’s Lynn. North Norfolk’s Deep History Coast is a 22 mile stretch of coast between Weybourne, East Runton and Cart Gap which has revealed the most spectacular finds. https://www.norfolkcoastaonb.org.uk/exploring/historic-sites-museums-and-exhibitions/

Maritime History

Norfolk has a rich maritime history with the county also being the birthplace of Horatio Nelson. Museums in Sheringham & Cromer tell the story of fishing on the Norfolk Coast and the heroic lifeboats crews who saved many lives.  Locally we have the small but significant Maritime heritage centre in Stiffkey.  The heritage centre tells the story of the Dunkirk veteran local lifeboat Lucy Lavers alongside displays of Norfolk fishing and wooden boat building heritage, including crab fishing, whelk fishing, and fishing life and communities
