Our Community and People

We have a small team of full-time and part-time staff onsite throughout the year who work hard to deliver great customer service for our guests.  We also work with some great reliable local craftsmen and tradesmen.  Our business relies on the goodwill and support of our community and we have always been keen to give something back.

We support our local community where we can by promoting local producers by including their produce in our welcome hampers and through our guest information guidebooks.

We sponsor an Owl box at Sculthorpe Moor Community Nature Reserve. We encourage our guests to visit this special place which has been developed largely by volunteers.  Sculthorpe Moor Nature Reserve is run by the national charity, Hawk and Owl Trust which was founded to conserve and protect wild birds of prey.

We also support Rescue Wooden Boats as a nod to the maritime heritage of our local area.  We are keen sailors ourselves and we understand the knowledge and talent it takes to keep the tradition alive.  We always take part in the Maritime Heritage Festival in Wells as an impressive flotilla of Wooden boats, including veteran lifeboats including the restored Dunkirk veteran lifeboat ‘Lucy Lavers’ and a procession of other traditional working boats fill the harbour.  We have also taken part in Norfolk beach cleans in the past which is a great thing to do and anyone can join in.  See their website for details.

Our pool is available for local private memberships for small groups during lunchtimes and evenings.  Our staff also have access to free pool use to share with their families.

Our green meeting room has been used for small local meetings and it is used by a local photography group for teaching sessions.  We do not make a charge for these events.
