There are plenty of places to visit in north Norfolk. For visitors interested in art and culture there are a fascinating collection of museums, art galleries, theatres, antique shops and independent boutiques and local craft shops.  You can learn about Norfolk’s history and maritime heritage; the heroic small ships & lifeboats and their crews, also military history, archaeology, fossils, and religious history. In Norwich you can discover the flagship museum at Norwich Castle which is great for all ages. Other places are just great for a wander, for example the Sainsbury centre or the medieval streets of Norwich of Walsingham or a visit to Cromer pier for excellent fish & chips or an ice cream.

Wells-next-the-sea

Wells-next-the-sea has a quay with wonderful views out across the harbour and is a great place to sit and enjoy a plate of freshly fried fish & chips. On a short walk away from the quay you’ll find a buzzy town with a mix of traditional and contemporary shops as well as an array of eateries.  Take a walk away from the quay towards the life boat station and you will find access through the pinewoods & boardwalk to the Wells-next-the-Sea beach.

Burnham Market

A great place for retail therapy – vintage shops, bookshops, craft fairs and delis as well as the traditional butchers, bakers and fishmongers.  Also great for foodies with some of the best pubs and eateries in the area. Nick-named Chelsea-by-Sea the village tends to get pretty rammed in the summer. Thankfully, there is now a large carpark on the outskirts of town.

Kings Lynn

King’s Lynn has a fascinating old quarter by the river, with origins dating back to the 12th century. See handsome Jacobean and Georgian merchants’ houses and secretive little yards, evoking its old port days. In the hub of it stands the 15th century Holy Trinity Guildhall, checked with black flint and pale stone, while the former Custom House is now home to the tourist information centre and you can eat in a converted warehouse at the Green Quay Heritage Centre.

Sheringham

A favourite place to visit for families looking for a nostalgic trip to the seaside.  Don’t miss the iconic Cromer Pier a lasting example of Victorian architecture and Galton Blackiston’s No1 for excellent fish & chips. Cromer pier is home to the Cromer Lifeboat station and pavilion theatre.  Cromer also has an excellent museum set in a row of late 19th Century fisherman’s cottages with exhibits relating to geology, Cromer Lifeboatmen & a Cromer at war presentation.
